Laundry...It NEVER ends!
But, the good news is, laundry doesn't have to be a dreaded chore (I actually like doing laundry and it isn't just because there are only 2 of us now). You are probably wondering WHY DOES SHE LIKE LAUNDRY?!?!?!
Think about it...do you enjoy or dread entering your laundry room?

First, let me tell you a short history. I have seen laundry rooms that made me shudder! Even in some really nice, expensive homes! Laundry can be a problem. I remember seeing different laundry rooms and, at times, literally feeling ill! I wondered how they could ever get caught up on laundry because new, dirty laundry happens daily! I want to go into these homes and take all their laundry, wash, fold and bring it back to them to give them some hope! HAHA! How do you tell someone you want to do that?! Anyway, these laundry rooms made an impression on me (I was just in one yesterday and it was so hard to not start her laundry while she was gone!). I made a decision that I would never have laundry overload and I am happy to say, in 34 years of marriage, I haven't!

Here is the answer: I came up with a simple system that makes it NOT overwhelming and seeing the laundry baskets empty of dirty clothes and all put away neatly really is rewarding!
Now you are probably wondering what the simple system is, so here goes:
1. I do laundry every day (at least one load)
2. I do small batches (this is what works for me and I will tell you why in a minute)
3. I fold it as soon as it comes out of the dryer and put it away!
Pretty simple, right? Now let me explain why so often and why small batches...its because I HATE FOLDING LAUNDRY and if it is in smaller, manageable batches, then I don't dread it. OK, earlier I said I like doing laundry and now I am saying I hate folding it! I should clarify...I DID hate folding big batches. Small batches don't bother me. I never put a batch of laundry on the folding table thinking I will do it later....because what happens later? ANOTHER BATCH is done and added to it and then I would be overwhelmed and not want to do it!
So, those are my 3 simple steps to making laundry a breeze to do and not get behind, because lets face it, a dirty laundry room is not fun and really makes it hard to want to be organized in that room! Keeping up on it gives you a feeling of accomplishment!
Now, Here are some Laundry Facts!
Hot water removes dirt from heavily soiled clothes and kills more germs than cold water, but it can fade the dyes in some colored clothes and may cause wrinkling.
Warm water usually gets lightly soiled clothes clean and is safe for most colored clothes, but it doesn’t kill germs unless a disinfectant is added.
Cold water requires cold-water detergent to get clothes really clean. You also can dissolve powdered detergent in hot water before adding it to the wash water in a pinch.
ANOTHER INTERESTING FACT: According to the Soap and Detergent Association, the only difference between powdered and liquid detergent is the texture. An added bonus with liquid is that it can be used to pretreat stains. Whichever type of detergent you use, always follow the dispensing directions on the product container to achieve the best results.
